A Nature Reserve and Haven for Wildlife

The Earth-life forum is the website for the community ecological initiative at Mount Carlees Farm, now in its twenty seventh year.

This is a forty eight acre farm on the Lizard peninsular of Cornwall that has been lovingly brought back to a natural, rich, bio-diverse ecological habitat.

This now includes many species of flora, insects, and bird life on the endangered red list.  Together with deer, badger, fox, stoat, squirrel, hedgehog and all the other creatures that live in the marsh, moor, heath, wildflower meadows and woodlands, that make up this beautiful landscape.

All the buildings on site: housing, workshops, art studio and gallery, have been constructed using local materials and traditional building methods, coordinated by a local architect who is a specialist in cob, stone, and timber frame  construction.

This year will see the establishment of four privately managed organic market garden initiatives in selected areas given to recultivation. Together with this will be further land management restoration work that will include reintroduction of ponies and cattle for conservation grazing.

The project here as a whole has been and is, a sincere exploration into the evident necessity to find a way of living for we humans, with integrity, within the greater Earth community of life.
